…And watch all the press tour interviews and develop powerful butch envy over Ryan Gosling’s fashion sense and compile my favorite looks and draw them in the style of a vintage Simplicity sewing pattern from Ryan’s birth year…

The original:

And because I can’t be interested in anything a normal amount, I also went back and watched Ryan Gosling’s entire filmography at home.
My top three among many good ones:
Lars and the Real Girl (2007) — I never could have predicted how moving I found a film about Ryan Gosling being in love with a sex doll.
Blue Valentine (2010) — Good tonic for when I start itching for a romantic relationship again. A painful watch.
Drive (2011) — Pure style. The soundtrack is insane.
I also learned that he released a self-titled music album in 2009 called Dead Man’s Bones that is absolutely fantastic. There are goth rock tracks, a bit of Elvis, moments that remind me of Timber Timbre, Conor Oberst, My Chemical Romance, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and just so many instruments throughout, plus a youth choir!

This was an unexpected hyperfixation hole for me to fall into, but I loved every moment of it, and Project Hail Mary really deserves its flowers. If you haven’t seen it yet, go catch it on the big screen before it goes away.
We need hope! We need color! We need to meet the universe outside of ourselves with curiosity and love instead of fear!
